# Which Epic heroes do players name most?
Community Knowledge The threads used here keep returning to Spark, Rebecca, Kai, Venom, Lua and Meow Mage. Every cell below is one player’s comment, and the same commenter can appear in more than one cell.
Comparison table with who said what
| Hero (as players name it) | What players praise | What players caution about |
|---|---|---|
| Spark | One reply rates her very highly for PvE and says that once you have a good grasp of her you will get far.[1] Another says her stun build shreds and stunlocks enemies,[6] and a third ties her strength to how often she attacks.[3] | Enemies with spikes: the asker says she struggles with them, and a reply suggests killing them before your shield ends, taking a starting item from another hero, or using a different hero.[7] The reply that praised her stun build adds an exception: a few enemies such as a spike monster.[6] |
| Rebecca | Replies say her damage comes from block, so building armor feeds her offence and any weapon works with her.[8] One reply says she can block spike damage.[7] | One commenter says she cannot beat most self-healing bosses.[2] For the Arena, see the mode table below. |
| Kai | One player calls Kai their main and says he is strong;[9] another says Kai is great for the tower and gets stronger as you raise star levels for other heroes to unlock new starting swords.[9] | The first player says Kai has a damage cap compared with Rebecca, and a third says his strength is killing quickly rather than surviving.[9] A commenter in the largest thread says Kai is outclassed once you get Rose.[2] |
| Venom | One reply picks Venom for reliable poison,[10] and another says go for Venom if you already have poison-related items.[6] | A reply says poison alone does not trigger often enough and needs extra damage added,[11] and a commenter in the largest thread says poison is reliable but too slow on its own.[2] |
| Lua | One commenter says Lua is very strong with a fire build and gets big crits when overhealing.[2] In the spike-enemy thread, a reply says Lua, if built correctly, can out-heal the damage.[7] | A different commenter says Lua is not really played at the chapters they have reached.[2] A player who tried Lua in events says it was relatively good but did not fit the builds that are strong right now.[2] |
| Meow Mage | One commenter says Meow Mage is strong but only much later in the game, so not useful early.[2] | Another commenter says Meow Mage only looks strong if he is your only mage and is outclassed by other casters; a third calls their own, un-upgraded Meow Mage cute but not strong.[2] |
Community Knowledge The Lua and Meow Mage rows come from a heated exchange in one thread: two commenters give opposite accounts of what higher-level players use, and one points to a ranking screenshot while the other says to look it up. The thread does not settle it, and neither does this page.[2]
# How do players compare the two most-named picks?
Community Knowledge When the asker already has a class they like, the answers follow the class. One player says that for the Wizard class Spark is really good with a fire build, and that if you want to stay with Warrior, Rebecca is a good all-round hero.[1] Another player chose Spark because they wanted to play a Wizard instead of Rebecca, having played mostly Barbarian.[3]
| Topic | Players pointing to Spark | Players pointing to Rebecca |
|---|---|---|
| Where the strength comes from | Stuns and a high attack rate.[6] [3] | Block that turns into damage, with any weapon.[8] |
| Mode | Several replies put Spark first or near the top of the heroes listed; one says the meta choice would be Spark and then Rebecca for all the content.[2] Players in two other threads rate Spark highly for PvE.[1] [3] | One reply says Rebecca is used a lot in the Arena;[2] another says she can win without relying on spike, which that reply calls good for bosses that steal buffs.[2] |
| Weak spot | Spike enemies.[7] [6] | Self-healing bosses, according to the same commenter in the largest thread who said she can win without relying on spike.[2] |
When you already like a Warrior hero
Community Knowledge A player who enjoys the spearman and had seen people going for Rebecca asked why. One reply says Rebecca’s damage comes from building block while the spearman only buffs spears and is punished for using other weapons; another says Rebecca has no damage cap while the spearman’s damage only goes so far; a third says you can add swords to Rebecca so she is not tied to a spear build.[8] A long reply calls Rebecca stronger outright but says the spearman is still useful for shredding block or for heal reduction with Candlesticks. Another reply is not certain and says some rings count as weapons and may take part of the spearman’s bonus away, and a further reply believes the spearman bonus excludes gear, so rings would not affect it.[8]
Recommendation If you already like a hero, check that hero’s passive list (see below) against the weapons you own before you switch.
# Which hero for the Arena, and which for chapters?
Community Knowledge Players treat the Arena and chapters as different questions, and the answers for the Arena are less settled.
| Mode | What replies say | Where replies differ |
|---|---|---|
| Chapters (PvE) | Several replies name Spark.[2] [1] [3] One reply calls Kai great for the tower.[9] A commenter says Venom is interesting for certain bosses but rare.[2] | Replies disagree about Lua, Meow Mage and Kai.[2] |
| Arena | One reply says Rebecca is used a lot in the Arena.[2] Another names Rose, Trixie and Raven for PvP.[4] | One reply describes Rebecca as a tank but not good for the Arena;[12] a reply under a Rebecca Arena build says it is fine until Rose enters.[13] |
Community Knowledge Players also swap heroes by enemy. In one thread a player who had unlocked Spark asked about spike enemies, and the replies suggested other heroes, with Rebecca named as able to block the damage.[7]
# What if I just like a hero’s design?
Community Knowledge A player who liked two heroes by design and vibe asked whether choosing by looks would be a lost opportunity. The replies split.[2]
| Pick what you like | Learn which are stronger first |
|---|---|
| One reply says to pick whichever character looks cool, that the game is not very deep, and that any build works with the right luck.[2] Another says to check each hero and pick the favourite play style,[2] and one player says they picked Venom because of how he looks.[2] A reply in another thread also gives Venom as a pick partly because he looks cool.[6] | One reply says it is better to know which heroes are stronger, since you have to go out of your way to grind for a lot of heroes.[2] |
Community Knowledge Another commenter says no single build does everything, so switch builds up or you will meet a boss you cannot beat.[2] One commenter adds that you will unlock all the heroes at some point, so the choice depends on you, meta or play style.[2] A player asking about the class they should start with got a similar answer: it is whichever class has the play style you enjoy.[4]
# How do I check what a hero does before choosing?
Community Knowledge One player says each character in the character menu can be tapped, even if you do not own that hero, and that the passive skills are listed there.[5] Another explains that the passives appear as a row of boxes under the hero’s name when you tap the icon in the hero tab, and that some give weapon bonuses or exclusive items.[14]
Community Knowledge The same reply says a hero can favour a weapon type: the spearman does extra damage with spears and Kai does more damage with swords, and each class tends to pair well with its own weapons.[14] In a thread by a player who lost an Arena fight to an enemy hero they did not understand, replies point to that hero’s passives and say her burn, thorns and poison go through block. One reply adds that the asker challenged someone far above them in power, and two others say the gap matters little. On whether she cares about the opponent’s block, one reply says she does not and a later one says it depends on who she faces.[5]
Recommendation Before you spend shards, open the passive list of each hero you are considering and compare any weapon bonus with the weapons you already have.
# What can we not confirm yet?
| Question | Why it is open |
|---|---|
| Which hero is stronger overall? | Players give opposite accounts of what higher-level players use, so this page does not rank heroes.[2] |
| How well do the Epic heroes do in the Arena? | One reply says Rebecca is used a lot there and another says she is not good for it, and results also depend on the opponent, so this page does not settle it.[2] [12] |
| What are the exact stats and damage of each hero? | The threads give impressions only, so this page gives no numbers. |
| How do you unlock a given hero, and how many heroes are there? | Players’ accounts of unlocking are personal and the game changes, so this page leaves both out. |
# Frequently asked questions
These questions follow real threads from the community. Each answer summarises what players said.
What Epic character should I choose?
Community Knowledge Several replies in the largest thread put Spark first or near the top, one adds Rebecca for the Arena, and replies disagree about Lua, Kai and Meow Mage. Several players also say to pick the play style or looks you like.[2]
Spearman or Rebecca?
Community Knowledge Replies say Rebecca’s damage comes from block and works with any weapon, while the spearman favours spears. One reply calls Rebecca stronger outright; another is unsure whether rings reduce the spearman’s bonus, and a further reply thinks they do not.[8]
Lua or Venom?
Community Knowledge The one reply in the thread that asks this picks Venom for reliable poison.[10] In the largest thread, replies are split: one calls Lua very strong with a fire build and another says Lua is hardly played; one calls poison reliable but slow, and another says Venom is rarely seen.[2]
Cecilia or Spark?
Community Knowledge One player in another thread calls Cecilia a legendary hero.[15] The thread with this title in the main community has one reply, a joke, so it gives no answer.[16] A thread with the same title in the older-name community has replies side by side: one says Cecilia does more when she can create and cleanse fire and frost very quickly, or against a boss immune to stun; another says Cecilia is the stronger pick as long as you are not at risk of dying, because Spark’s value is on-hit effects and stuns that help you survive.[17]
